The Houston Astros have signed 26-year old lefty reliever Eury de la Rosa to a minor league deal. de la Rosa pitched in 39 games (3 starts) for Long Island of the Independent League and he was 3-4 with 1 save, a 3.26 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP. He gave up 38 hits and 19 walks while whiffing 48 batters in his 47 innings for Long Island this year. de la Rosa has pitched in 44 games (0 starts) in his first two years in the show and he is 2-1 with a 4.21 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP. He could get another shot at the show with the Astros when rosters expand next month, if he looks good in the minors first.
