The Astros have placed 26-year old lefty swinging catcher Jason Castro on the 15-day disabled list, ending his season due to a cyst on his right knee.  Castro played in 120 games for the Astros in 2013 and he was 120 of 435 (.276 avg, .835 OPS) with 63 runs scored, 18 homers, 56 RBIs and 2 stolen bases.  Castro was leading the Astros in runs scored (63) at the time of his injury.  He was also #3 in both homers (18) and RBIs (56) for the Astros when his season ended.  Castro has now played in 274 games in his first three years with the Astros and he is 226 of 887 (.255 avg, .749 OPS) with 118 runs scored, 26 homers, 93 RBIs and 2 stolen bases.  Castro proved this year that he is a legit building block for the Astros’ future.  29-year old switch-hitting Carlos Corporan will be the Astros’ starting catcher the last couple of weeks.  He has played in 54 games for the Astros so far this year and he is 39 of 166 (.235 avg, .684 OPS) with 16 runs scored, 7 homers and 18 RBIs.
