24-year old righty swinging 3B Matt Dominguez has been hitting well lately for the Astros. Since July 1st, he has played in 63 games for the Astros in which he is 57 of 223 (.256 avg) with 27 runs scored, 9 homers and 31 RBIs. Dominguez has now played in 141 games for the Astros so far this year and he is 121 of 501 (.242 avg, .694 OPS) with 55 runs scored, 20 homers and 75 RBIs. Dominguez is #2 on the Astros in both homers (20) and RBIs (75) so far in 2013. He is also #4 in runs scored with 55 of them. When the Astros dealt for Dominguez last summer, they knew he could field, but they didn’t know if he would hit. He has proven to be a player the Astros can build around for the future.
