24-year old rookie righty reliever Jose Cisnero will get the first shot to replace Jose Veras as the closer. He came into this season as the Astros’ #15 prospect according to Baseball America. Cisnero has pitched in 25 games (0 starts) for the Astros so far this year and he is 2-2 with a 3.48 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP. Cisnero has given up 42 hits (3 homers), 19 walks and he has whiffed 40 batters in his first 41 2/3 innings so far this year. Cisnero has the stuff to be a successful closer, but he needs to throw more strikes.
