23-year old righty starting pitcher Jarred Cosart came into this season as the Astros’ #7 prospect heading into 2013 according to Baseball America. He pitched in 18 games (17 starts) in AAA-ball for the Astros this year and he was 7-4 with a 3.29 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. He has really been impressive in his first two starts for the Astros, as he is 1-0 with a 0.60 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP. He has only given up 9 hits and he has six whiffs while walking 6 batters in his first 15 innings in the majors, which are pretty solid numbers. The key is going to be getting Cosart to trust his stuff and throw strikes. Cosart was part of the return the Astros got from the Phillies for outfielder Hunter Pence on July 29, 2011.
