The Astros have designated 30-year old righty swinging infielder Ronny Cedeno for assignment. Cedeno played in 51 games for the Astros this year and he was 31 of 141 (.220 avg, .558 OPS) with 12 runs scored, 1 homer, 12 RBIs and 2 stolen bases. Cedeno has now played in 830 games in his first 9 years in the majors and he is 596 of 2,433 (.245 avg, .641 OPS) with 253 runs scored, 38 homers, 230 RBIs and 36 stolen bases. The Astros have decided to quit wasting ABs with players on the decline, as it won’t help them in their rebuilding process.
