The Houston Astros have acquired 20-year old righty swinging 2B Ronald Torreyes from the Cubs for 2 international bonus pool slots. Torreyes played in 64 games in AA-ball for the Cubs this year and he was 58 of 223 (.260 avg, .718 OPS) with 31 runs scored, 2 homers, 25 RBIs and 4 stolen bases. He has now played in 337 games in his first four years in the minors and he is 397 of 1,271 (.312 avg, .823 OPS) with 218 runs scored, 16 homers, 159 RBIs and 54 stolen bases. I like this deal for the Astros as Torreyes is further along than anyone they could use those bonus slots on.
