29-year old lefty swinging catcher Jason Castro is having another rough season offensively for the Houston Astros. He has played in 102 games for the Astros so far this year and he is 64 of 302 (.212 avg, .706 OPS) with 41 runs scored, 11 homers, 32 RBI and 2 stolen bases. He has also whiffed 115 times so far this year! Castro has now played in 606 games in his first six years with the Astros and he is 464 of 1,991 (.233 avg, .703 OPS) with 240 runs scored, 62 homers, 212 RBI and 5 stolen bases. He has whiffed an amazingly awful 613 times so far in his career! It seems like ages ago when Castro was an All-Star for the Astros in 2013. It seems to me like Castro’s days as the Astros’ starting catcher are numbered.
