The Houston Astros have claimed 26-year old lefty swinging outfielder Eric Thames off waivers from the Baltimore Orioles. Thames played in 98 games in Rookie+AAA-ball for the Mariners and Orioles this year and he is 104 of 368 (.283 avg, .799 OPS) with 53 runs scored, 10 homers, 49 RBIs and 8 stolen bases. He last played in the majors in 2012 for the Mariners and Blue Jays. Thames has played in 181 games in his first two years in the majors and he is 158 of 633 (.250 avg, .727 OPS) with 85 runs scored, 21 homers, 62 RBIs and 3 stolen bases. This was a good guy for the Astros to take a flier on, as Thames has a nice upside.
