23-year old righty swinging outfielder George Springer is having a monster season in the minors for the Astros in 2013. He has played in 129 games in AA+AAA-ball so far this year and he is 140 of 468 (.299 avg, 1.016 OPS) with 102 runs scored, 37 homers, 105 RBIs and 42 stolen bases. He has whiffed 156 times so far this year, while walking 80 times. Springer has now played in 265 games in his first three years in the minors and he is 298 of 1,002 (.297 avg, .953 OPS) with 219 runs scored, 62 homers, 195 RBIs and 78 stolen bases. Springer came into this season as the Astros’ #3 rated prospect according to Baseball America. The Astros are going to be mighty tempted to call Springer up next week when rosters expand.
