The Astros have designated 30-year old lefty reliever Travis Blackley for assignment. Blackley pitched in 42 games (0 starts) for the Astros this year and he was 1-1 with a 4.89 ERA and a 1.43 WHIP. He got hit hard this year, as he gave up 10 homers in only 35 innings pitched for the Astros. Blackley has now pitched in 78 games (23 starts) in his first four years in the majors and he is 8-8 with a 5.28 ERA and a 1.42 WHIP. This isn’t much of a loss for the Astros moving forward.
