22-year old righty reliever Travis Ballew has been awesome in A-ball so far this year for the Astros. Ballew has pitched in 24 games (0 starts) in A-ball for the Astros so far this year and he is 2-1 with 11 saves, a 2.45 ERA and a 1.05 WHIP. Ballew has given up 20 hits and 7 walks while whiffing a very impressive 46 batters in only 25 2/3 innings….which is impressive! Ballew has now pitched in 47 games (0 starts) in his first two years in the minors and he is 7-2 with 14 saves, a 1.95 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP. Ballew wasn’t considered a top prospect of the Astros coming into the 2012 season, but I think that’s about to change.
