The Astros have acquired 26-year old lefty reliever/starter Eric Berger from the Cleveland Indians for 24-year old righty swinging catcher Chris Wallace.  Berger pitched in 2 games (0 starts) earlier this year in AA-ball for the Indians and he was 0-0 with a 4.15 ERA and a 2.08 WHIP.  He has pitched in 135 games (78 starts) in his first six years in the minors and he is 21-25 with a 3.91 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP.  Wallace played in 1 game in AAA-ball for the Astros this year and he was 0 for 3 (.000 avg, .000 OPS).  Wallace played in 248 games in his four years in the minors for the Astros and he is 229 for 843 (.272 avg, .812 OPS) with 123 runs scored, 35 homers, 154 RBIs and 8 stolen bases.  I can’t fault the Astros for this kind of deal as they continue to search for more pitching help.
