The Houston Astros have signed 33-year old righty starting pitcher Charlie Morton to a 2-year, $14 million dollar deal. Morton pitched in 4 games (all starts) for the Phillies last year and he was 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. His 2016 season ended when he needed surgery to repair a very serious hamstring strain. Morton has now pitched in 162 games (161 starts) in his first 9 years in the show and he is 46-71 with a 4.54 ERA and a 1.44 WHIP. If Morton is healthy, he could help the back end of the Astros’ rotation in 2017 and maybe 2018.
