The Astros have shut down 23-year old righty starting pitcher Jarred Cosart for the rest of the 2013 season to manage his workload. Cosart pitched in 10 games (all starts) for the Astros this year and he was 1-1 with a 1.95 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP. Cosart gave up 46 hits (only 3 homers) and he walked 35 batters while whiffing 33 of them in 60 innings for the Astros this year. Cosart also pitched in 18 games (17 starts) in AAA-ball for the Astros this year and he was 7-4 with a 3.29 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. This was a smart move to protect Cosart’s right arm for the future.
