27-year old Chia-Jen Lo came into this season as the Astros’ #22 prospect according to Baseball America. He pitched in 17 games (0 starts) in A+AA-ball this year and he was 0-0 with a 6 saves, a 3.24 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP. Lo got called up after Jose Veras got traded to the Tigers and he has been sharing save opportunities with Josh Fields. Lo has pitched in 11 games (0 starts) for the Astros so far this year and he is 0-2 with 2 saves, a 2.45 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP. Lo has given up 9 hits and 8 walks while whiffing 8 batters in his first 11 innings with the Astros. If he can tighten up his control a little bit, he might just get a shot to be the Astros’ full-time closer in the near future.
