The Astros have signed 26-year old righty swinging 1B Japhet Amador and 23-year old lefty swinging outfielder Leonardo Heras to minor league deals. Amador played in 104 games in Mexico this year and he was 147 of 400 (.368 avg, 1.111 OPS) with 76 runs scored, 36 homers and 121 RBIs. Amador has now played in 503 games in his first seven years in Mexico and he is 590 of 1,788 (.330 avg, .985 OPS) with 302 runs scored, 112 homers, 400 RBIs and 5 stolen bases. Heras played in 91 games in Mexico this year and he was 104 of 335 (.310 avg, .917 OPS) with 81 runs scored, 11 homers, 42 RBIs and 14 stolen bases. Heras has now played in 595 games in his first seven years in Mexico and he is 755 of 2,376 (.318 avg, .862 OPS) with 496 runs scored, 60 homers, 294 RBIs and 89 stolen bases. Both Amador and Heras will start in AAA-ball for the Astros, but if they look good…..they could get called up on September 1st when rosters expand. These were solid signing for the Astros as they continue to span the globe to add young talent to the roster.
