The Houston Astros have no illusions of making the playoffs in 2013. They are currently in last place in the A.L. West, 15.5 games behind the Rangers with a 29-48 (37.7%) record. With the Astros having such a low payroll this year, they are under no pressure to make a salary dump kind of deal. Carlos Pena, Roger Cedeno, Carlos Corporan, Justin Maxwell, Brett Wallace, Lucas Harrell, Bud Norris, Erik Bedard, Jose Veras and Travis Blackley will all be likely available next month. That being said, I don’t see the Astros making a lot of trades unless they are given an offer that they can’t refuse. They might get that kind of offer for Bud Norris, as he is one of the best starting pitchers likely to be on the trade market in July.
